Music is my life. I grew up in a small beach village called Gonubie, a relaxed, multi-cultural town just outside the hustle and bustle of East London, which we thought was the “big city” back then. I loved music from a young age. I couldn’t wait to turn the hifi on in the mornings and go to church to sing with my friends and family. This culminated into my earliest and most vivid memory of singing “Lavenders Blue” on stage at the Quigney Baptist Church in 1998.
I started learning how to play the piano from 6 years old and participated in school plays and concerts from then on throughout my schooling career. I got my first guitar when I was seventeen and began writing and performing music for school and private functions.
In 2011 I left East London and moved to another small town called Port Elizabeth where I would study a degree in music technology at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. This was my first taste of an artists lifestyle. For four years I performed with top local events companies and artists for private/corporate functions and tribute shows. I also gained residencies at Port Elizabeths top hotels namely The Boardwalk Hotel and Conference Centre. The most memorable highlight during these four years would be travelling internationally on multiple occasions as a chorister and soloist for the NMMU Choir where we performed for audiences from all over the world.
After completing my degree I moved to Cape Town, the mother city as they call it. I began my re-invention by busking in the heart of the wine lands, Stellenbosch and quickly gained a loyal following and clientele. Since then I have travelled all over South Africa as a solo artist and session musician. Some of my most memorable highlights would include performing as a session keyboardist/instrumentalist for Majozi since 2015, participating on The Voice SA in 2018 and joining Eddie and the Robbers in 2020. Performing with Eddie Jordan led to opportunities to perform alongside Mike Rutherford (Mike and the Mechanics) and perform for celebrities such as Lalit Modi, Joe Root and Eion Morgan to name a few.
